When the Going Gets Tough... Shedding Light on our Times (Sedona Magazine 7-18-19)

July 18, 2019

Perhaps you have noticed that times have been rather intense for a number of months now. Or, maybe you haven’t noticed. There are actually two ways to go through life, and one of them is to “go 3rd dimensional” and ignore what you are feeling deep down. This one isn’t really recommended, but some choose it, hoping that “ignorance is indeed bliss.” “Maybe if I don’t know what’s going on inside of me, I won’t have to deal with it,” is the subconscious rationale.

For those of you who allow yourselves to be “in tune” and aware of what you are thinking and feeling—in the name of personal and spiritual growth—you may be feeling quite pummeled by the intense energies going on planetary-wide.  If not pummeled, perhaps extremely exhausted and having a difficult time keeping up with all that is going on in your world—both inner and outer.

As one who helps people deal with life by clearing their negative, subconscious programming and freeing them to make better choices for their “Highest Good,” I am continually aware of what my clients are experiencing. For many, I have been seeing life be challenging and often quite difficult for the past eight to nine months. So I wanted to bring you some of the information and insights I have gleaned as a result, to help you through these times.

I am calling this period of time: a “Pluto/Saturn” period. If you know astrology, this name will have meaning. If you don’t know astrology, I’ll explain, so you will get the message regardless. It is just my way of helping you to understand the planetary influences at this time, and to process all that is going on in your life.

See if any of this feels familiar to you. Sometimes, when you realize that many are feeling the same way, you don’t feel so alone... or abnormal. It may not lighten your specific load, but at least you won’t feel like you’re “going crazy,” have “fallen off the deep end,” or even that you are dying. So here’s the deal…

Pluto brings an energy of intensity, one which often makes us feel overwhelmed or out of control. It signifies deep transformation—whether we like it or not—so it brings up all our fears and resistance to moving forward and making changes within ourselves and our world that are actually for our Highest Good. Because much of this energy is in our subconscious mind and out of our awareness, we may have a deeper level of anxiety or fear about life that we can’t really explain.

Pluto is represented by the proverbial “phoenix rising from the ashes.” This concept comes from Greek mythology, where the legendary bird is destroyed, dying in a shower of flames and combustion, but then rises again from the ashes, with renewed life, youth, and sense of purpose. The idea here is that sometimes we have to “crash and burn” before we can rise to a new place of power, love, and security within ourselves that we were unable to experience or sustain prior to the lessons that the crash brought to us.

The “crash and burn” part is the most challenging aspect of life for people today. It never feels good (even though it may ultimately be “good” for you), and you actually could feel like you’re dying!  I call this simply “death stuff,” and I find that many are dealing with it these days. Is it “bad”? No.

It is all about helping us to get stronger and overcome these negative influences in our lives. As you review and heal those parts of you that make you feel like you’re dying (or want to die because of how hard things are), that sets the stage for feeling even more alive and vibrant—as you proceed to “rise from the ashes,” once the “crash and burn” part is over. Then we throw Saturn into the mix.

The energy of Saturn is ultimately one of “mastery,” which is a good thing. However, the path to mastery is never easy and simple. So, Saturn carries the energy of “hard”… “it’s hard, everything is hard… will I ever get there?... it all just seems so hard.”

When people are under a strong Saturn influence, they often feel pessimistic and even hopeless. I mean, if it’s so hard to get to where you want to be, it makes sense to want to give up—often at a deep, unconscious level. When you combine the energies of Pluto AND Saturn, you may feel totally overwhelmed and out of control, because everything seems so ridiculously hard. Sound familiar to anyone?

I have seen some people bury themselves in constant activity in order to not feel this. I have seen some “create other dimensions”… where they go to escape and not have to deal with all that they’re feeling. I have seen others go into denial, and just act like “everything is great” when it’s really not.

All of these are coping strategies, and people are doing the best they can… so I’m not judging anyone here. I’m just saying that the best way to go through this period is to be as honest as you can be with yourself about what’s going on inside you. At the same time, you don’t want to buy into the negative thoughts or feelings you’re having. They are getting triggered at this time so you can work through and heal them. Just don’t get stuck in thinking they are real.

For example, since there is this “death stuff” going on deep down, many of you will have feelings of “getting old” or “aging more” during this period. Because of all the old, often past life programming that is getting triggered now, you can work on clearing these energies and not buy into them as being real. I constantly encourage people not to “buy into their thoughts.”

Your thoughts show you what is in your mind, and surface as a result of old programming getting triggered. This programming can be cleared and healed, and you don’t have to live with it “forever.” Understand that right now, the current planetary energies are triggering your programming that makes you feel overwhelmed with all that is on your plate, along with your programming about how hard life is for you. And this forms a backdrop for everything you do on a daily basis.

The Bright Side

As I said, Pluto and Saturn aren’t really “bad guys.” They are just “heavy hitters” and push our buttons like crazy. The good news is:  they are supporting us in growing tremendously, at an unbelievable speed, and in incredible ways. Know that good times are ahead, once the “crash and burn” part is over.

This is a really great time to work on yourself, that is, to examine what’s going on inside, tell the truth about your life, and make the changes you’ve been wanting to make. Often those changes require restructuring your thoughts, attitudes and beliefs, vs. changing your partner, job, or city in which you live—although that, too, could happen at this time. This is really a glorious time of incredible growth, so participate in it fully.

You could also liken yourself to a caterpillar that has spun a cocoon, and is living there, in the darkness, not knowing who or what s/he will be when his or her time in the cocoon is done. Do we get scared and anxious because we don’t know what will happen once it’s time to leave the cocoon? Do we fear each heavy gust of wind or torrential rain that comes along, shaking our little home to its core, making us wonder if we’ll survive the night?

Or do we trust the Divine process of life and know that we will be fine while in the cocoon, whether we can see the outcome or not? Can we just relax and trust that we are in the right place, at the right time, doing what we need to do on our evolutionary path… and that we’ll be fine, once it is time to leave the cocoon? You do have a choice as to how to go through this intense period of personal growth and spiritual transformation!

You also may want to consciously create more time to nurture yourself and do more activities that are fun and bring you joy. Make a list of at least five things you enjoy doing, and include as many of them as you can in your daily or weekly activities.

We are all changing now, at a deep level of our being. So, trust the process of life, do your best to be present and aware, and do the inner work necessary. You will “fly free” when the time is right. Do your best to enjoy this period, as challenging as that may sound, and know that when you are ready, this, too, shall pass.
